Los Angeles Engagement Session | Jen + Mitch

Alright, this shoot takes the cake! Mitch and Jen booked me for their wedding this coming fall and took advantage of the complimentary engagement session that I include in all of my packages. Never did I imagine that this would turn out like it did!

The two had the idea in mind to incorporate Mitch’s bike since he is a professional stunt rider and they made my job easy because they already had the location set for where they wanted everything to take place. This backlot runs parallel to the LA River and is right where the 10 and the 101 meet. Right in front of the train tracks was the perfect space since it was a closed road for Mitch to safely perform his craft.

This location was more popular than I was expecting. There were several other photographers and videographers out there working but were all really respectful of each other’s space and to not get in another creator’s shots.

We started out with a more editorial style shoot with Mitch in a suit and tie and Jen wearing a sexy black velvet dress. Everything about the first half of this session reminded me of a James Bond movie poster. The location, the suit, the dress, the bike...all of it screamed Bond, James Bond.

Adhering to the law, we stayed off the train tracks even the non functional ones with the abandoned train cars and instead set up in front of the tracks and had an awesome view of Downtown Los Angeles in the background. Once the sun was in the ideal spot, Mitch changed into more street attire, put on his helmet and gloves and performed his stunts safely around Jen. I wore a smile the entire time because I just knew these images were going to turn out exactly how they wanted.

Just before we ended, Mitch asked me what was the most “different” type of shoot I’ve done and I was happy to answer that it was theirs. I had so much fun planning, shooting and editing this whole session and Jen and Mitch only made it all the more fun. Only 8 more months until their wedding and I can’t wait to meet up with these two again!
