I knew from the first time we corresponded with each other that Olivia, Cody and myself were going to hit it off great! These two found me from my work done at a previous wedding at their booked venue Windmill Canyon at Hoy Ranch in Beaumont. I seriously can’t wait to be back at this location for their June 2020 wedding.
I send all of my couples a questionnaire to get more information about who they are as a couple and their love story told me so much. They got engaged in Big Bear so to keep that same “mountain” theme, we ventured up to Forest Falls for their golden hour engagement session. This area isn’t very populated and is often missed by mountain lovers because it’s on the backside route to Big Bear. There’s a river that runs through the split of the mountains and with it being Summer, it was mostly dry giving us easy access to the rocks.
We started our session at the top of Momyer Creek Trail where there were more pine trees with a cute private picnic table that I took note of if I ever want a day date with my husband in the near future. I made sure to warn Olivia ahead of time to bring tennis shoes because the trail leading to the rocks was a little rough. We found some soft sand spots before the rocks where the sun was shining through the trees and I saw this as the perfect opportunity and time for their photos with their “save the date” marquee. Olivia had also shared with me that her grandpa had passed away very recently and wanted some photos holding his picture in memory so we included those during this same time.
I saved the final spot with the rocks for last when the sun was just about to finish setting. Olivia and Cody were such troopers and endured the cold water and small rocks in the stream to get some of my favorite photos to date. The amount of depth behind them and the sun right on the mountains was an incredible view as you can see in their gallery.
Everything about this Engagement Session was uplifting and has me even more excited for their wedding next year. I love how sweet and affectionate they are with each other and the genuine look that they get when they lock eyes. Thank you both for being such an amazing couple and I can’t wait for your wedding!
